So, today my back roared its ugly head, knocking me out for the evening and needing a little nap to get going again. We had planned to do some prep work for the long-single-take-no-cuts running scene with Steve but the weather was nasty, which did not help my already aching-from-yesterday back, so I guess it's not that big of a deal, although I wasn't able to scout for an elevator and pickup the wheel chair for our dolly shots. Hopefully it cooperates next week and I'm not forced to skip a day of shooting.
Met with Steve and Todd when I got up from the pain-induced nap. We went over some ideas and brain stormed. Todd is going to take up the role of my lighting director. I'm not sure if that's the DP or cinematographer, I always get those confused. I've never had someone to work the lights for me. I guess that's the big culture shock and it's a nice thing, not having to do everything yourself. Steve and Todd noted that it would go a lot smoother if I had some people to delegate tasks too so I can focus on working with the actors and what's going on in the image, instead of everything going on off camera. So that'll work well. Steve's got a friend that can run the boom mic, so I'm going to ask Cousin John to be my script supervisor/continuity editor/note taker on scenes, etc.. It truly is a collaborative art and I'm glad to have so many awesome people who are helping out and working really well together. Hopefully we can find a few more and really have everything covered.
Tomorrow, with any luck, we'll get Steve's scene in the can (I'll write more about the concepts behind it tomorrow) and maybe some George & Nick stuff afterwards, depending on if John Lusk is available. Friday and Saturday will be devoted to getting the costumes ready for the rest of the cast and making sure the set is ready, etc.
Oh, I also met with a Times Herald reporter, who will be writing a story about this I guess, so that was fun.
